Thursday Evening '10'

01st May 2008

With it being the first Thursday of the month, the Lancaster CC moved from the road for a ‘10’ (12.5 laps) on the closed Salt Ayre circuit. A fine but cool evening for the last race on the circuit before improvement works start saw a very good turnout of 20 riders including several members of the Salt Ayre Cog-set plus many officials and spectators. Some of the youngsters opted for shorter distances (2mile = 2.5 Laps; 6mile = 7,5 Laps) but everyone else rode the full ten miles and after an initial timing error awarded the win to Kent Valley’s fast 14year old Beau Smith (a pb of 22:54 already to his credit) Graham Atkinson emerged as winner with 24:06. Good times were recorded by the youngsters covering six miles with fastest being Scott Prichard with 19:37 while the youngest rider Jessica McCracken, with dad Andrew riding ‘shotgun’ a respectable distance behind, recorded a good 7:19 for her first ever two mile time trial.
