3rd April 2008
There was a very good turnout of 16 riders (two did not record finishing times) for Thursday’s Lancaster CC evening TT at the Salt Ayre Circuit. This year the club has changed the format of the evening events and the first Thursday of each month from April to August there will be a TT on the traffic free circuit enabling it to be classed as a ‘come & try it’ event. Anybody is invited to ride and although the experienced club members will opt for a ten mile (12.5laps) ride, younger or less experienced riders can opt for a 2mile/2.5laps or 6mile/7.5laps TT. With two lap-counters assisting the timekeeper initially Paul Andrews was declared the winner but on a recount he was one lap short and Andrew McCracken made the best of the cool, grey evening to record 25:29, just seven seconds faster than Kent Valley’s Tim Bennett with Tim Norton a further eleven seconds back. The two young riders from the ‘Salt Ayre Cog Set’ Go Ride club both opted for a full ten mile try out and recorded good times for their first attempt.
