Bank Holiday '10'

28th May 2007

Just when you thought it was safe to wear shorts along came the Bank Holiday weekend but at least the weather was not as bad as had been forecast earlier in the week and it didn't rain. With a very strong, cold, buffeting crosswind on the way out and more of a direct headwind on the return it was no surprise that there were no PB's let alone improvement on 'Best last three year' times. Despite the wind the top four riders all recorded 22min times with Duncan Orme, after riding a '25' in Yorkshire on Saturday and a '50' up at Bassenthwaite in Cumbria on Sunday, still having the energy to take the win and the Lancaster Cycling Club 10mile Championship for 2007. Duncan's championship win made it three in a row having taken the title in 2005 & 2006 as did John Black, who has just celebrated his 70th birthday, when he took the Lancaster CC's Vet  on Standard Trophy in, he says, his last event at the end of a long career stretching back nearly 50years with the Lancaster Cycling Club.
